George C. Marshall Center European Center for Security Studies: “The mission of the Marshall Center, as a vital instrument of German-American cooperation, is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships; promoting active, peaceful, whole-of-government approaches to address transnational and regional security challenges; and creating and enhancing enduring partnerships worldwide.” Twice a year the Marshall Center conducts the resident four-week Program on Terrorism and Security Studies (PTSS), instructing government officials, military members, and law enforcement professionals in terrorist groups, strategies, tactics, and building enduring whole of government counter-terrorism policies and strategies.

Center on Irregular Warfare and Armed Groups (CIWAG): Established in 2008 at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI, USA, the Center on Irregular Warfare and Armed Groups pursues the study of contemporary irregular warfare and non-state actors.
